Are you ready for a new or updated website?

As we have recently updated our own website its made us consider the following statement:

Signs that you're ready to have a fresh new website of renew your existing website.

We collaborate with a number of our clients spanning many industries. from artists to Drs. We have noticed that the motivation for the website can come from a number of avenues. It could be that you feel without one you don't really exist in the online world. It could be that having one is forced upon you from a governing body. It could be to keep up with competitors.

Whatever the reason the clients vision and preparation plays a huge role in the efficiency and ultimate success of the website.

Are you ready?

Lets take a look.

Do you know what you need? Do you know what you want the website to do? Do you have clear vision?

This may sound easy. But its not quite as easy as it sounds. Are you looking for your website to be nothing more than a virtual online business cards. that simply gives very basic information. Like address phone number and name. Do you want your website to be more like an online brochure or rack card. Something that can give more information. Possibly your looking at something that entices people to visit you? Maybe the goal is to have them contact you. Possibly you want to sell directly online. Your needs and desires need to be thought of long and hard. As changes partially through can be costly.

So before you start consider this sentence: My website needs to . . .

Thinking of your goals, not simply carbon copying your competitors will give you an edge. Communicating your goals allows us to help you. Are you looking at having the website updated daily, weekly, monthly, yearly? Are you looking at being able to alter the website yourself after its been created?

Be open to suggestions. We will listen very closely to what you want and we may offer suggestions. Being us that’s very likely. We will help you think further than what your already familiar with. You wont always agree with us and that’s ok. But if your open to listening you may walk away with something far better than you initially thought.

Who are you?

You know who you are and who your business is way, way better than anyone else. You know your audience, your target market and who you need to sit up and notice you. Whilst we work with you we will learn a lot about your business. Obviously we will not be as familiar with your industry as you are. So we may need things translated into laymen’s terms till we get up to speed. This allows us to hit the ground running as it were.

Do you have a brand, identity. Is your company recognizable to your customers?

If your website update is to incorporate any new branding it may be better to gently touch the brakes on the new website until the new branding is ready. This will help ensure that your message isn't confusing to your customers. A rebranding can also cause delays due to fine tuning of logo, message, etc.

Do you have a point person?

Do you have someone who can make decisions? or must everything go back to a board/committee. then back again. This can take up an unbelievable amount of time. Its will also eat into a time frame like nothing else.
